Josef Westerlund, mountain guide

Finnish mountain guide Josef Westerlund has worked with climbing, cross-country skiing, and other technical sports for over a decade.

He has graduated from UIAGM (Union Internationale des Associations de Guides de Montagnes) — the world’s most reputable academy for mountain guides — where studies take 3 to 5 years. Only a handful of Finns have graduated from school.

His passion for outdoor activities has taken him all over the world from Scandinavia to Central Europe and over to the U.S. In fact, this bold adventurer spends the majority of the year doing what he loves the most.

He is used to working in extreme weather conditions: strong winds, heavy rainfalls, and snow are part of his daily job routine, all year around.

In rough climates, he opts for the most technical Halti collections specially designed for extreme weather conditions. This includes heavy-duty tents and sleeping bags as well as gear, shoes, and backpacks.

Josef’s top 3 favorite Halti products:

1. Whiff down jacket

”I simply love this down jacket. It’s light yet it keeps me warm in high altitudes and on skiing trips.”

2. Villis mid-layer jacket

”My favorite mid-layer. Warm and looks good.”
